LEV Fume Extraction System leaves dust and fume in the rear view!

Based in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim, Mirror Controls are global market leaders in side-view mirror actuators, providing smart solutions for the automotive industry. Their modern factory is highly automated manufacturing and extruding complex plastic components.

The client recognised a need for dust and fume extraction at their plant and contacted Beam for advice.
Following a survey by BEAM engineers, two separate systems were proposed and implemented:

  1. A new LEV Fume Extraction system to be applied to new extrusion
  2. A factorywide industrial central vacuum system to allow rapid cleaning and upkeep of the production machines.

Fume Extraction Hood

A compact 80mm fume extraction hood was fitted at each extrusion machine. An articulated arm allows the extract hood to be positioned for effective fume extraction at source. The extraction hood is mounted on a self-supporting arm which can be moved easily for service access to the machine.

Beam LEV engineers carried out the design and specification of the multi-hood fume extraction system and designed the required airflow volumes.

Fume Extraction Arms

BEAM supplied a quantity of mini fume extraction arms which were an ideal size and fit for the plastics extrusion machines. The result is an effective LEV Fume Extraction system seamlessly incorporated within newly installed production equipment.
A suitable central exhaust fan was selected to meet the specific working conditions of all points in use simultaneously.
