Dust Extraction System for new student craft training facility in Banbridge.
The new Banbridge campus opened in September 2020, to include a 4,500 sq./m state-of-the-art building. With outstanding learning facilities, the centre was designed to promote learning excellence and skills development with the latest technology and educational resources.
The Project
Beam were pleased to supply, install, and commission a new dust extraction system within the wood working craft area of the college. The new dust extract system serves 9 production machines including a table saw, planer and bandsaw.
After additional discussions, planning and design, a new original purpose-designed element was also incorporated for extraction from a lathe.
Zinc galvanised smooth-flow clip lock ducting was used throughout to ensure smooth flow of dust through the ducting away from the source.
The Benefits
The dust extraction system has successfully created a cleaner, healthier working environment for students and teachers, due to led to less airborne, harmful dust.
BEAM worked closely with M&E company Harvey Group throughout the project. Contract Manager, Sam Glass from Harvey Group Plc commented:
“It was a pleasure working with Beam on this project. They were able to deal with changes that occurred during the construction phase and undertook special requests from the client in their stride. It was clear they were highly experienced, and they took complete control over the wood dust extract system and critically the validation and certification which was a great help to our handover process. Highly recommended”
