After purchasing a 1980s bungalow in August 2019, Joy Ballance was shocked to discover black mould in the corners, on the ceiling and along the skirting boards of her new home.
Following consultation, she found that the problem had arisen due to condensation caused by poor ventilation.

The family decided after meeting with their local BEAM representative that a BEAM Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) System was the perfect solution to provide their home with suitable ventilation.
A PIV system ventilates the home from a central location on the landing or central hallway. The system dilutes and displaces stale, moist air in the home and replaces it with fresh filtered air.

As in Joy’s home, condensation can form which eventually leads to mould growth. For those with lung conditions, such as asthma, mould can be particularly dangerous as it can trigger an asthma attack.
One of Joy’s favourite things about their BEAM PIV system is that it “promotes air circulation while providing relief for asthma and allergy sufferers.” Joy, whose son suffers from asthma, has noticed “a substantial decrease in his need for his inhalers” since their PIV system was installed.
