Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our Beam Central Vacuum Systems.
Do Beam Central Vacuum Systems need maintenance?
There is very little maintenance with a BEAM system, just regularly empty the dirt bin typically 2-3 times per year. We also recommend the filter on the vacuum unit is replaced every 5 years to ensure your system works efficiently. You can do this easily yourself, or a service call can be arranged.
Do I really need this system if my floors are going to be wooden / tiled?
Yes - a central vacuum system is especially suitable for wooden floors because of the need to vacuum these rather than brushing which raises dust onto fabrics, furniture etc. A special hard floor brush is supplied with all our systems for this purpose. You’ll also not be dragging around a portable vacuum cleaner, which can scratch wooden floors.
What is the life expectancy of a Beam Central Vacuum System?
A Beam Central Vacuum System is designed to last a Housetime©. Many of our customers have had their central vacuum unit for 20+ years.
Can I locate the Central Vacuum power unit upstairs?
It is best practice to install a Beam Central Vacuum unit on the ground floor. This ensures the system is gravity fed and provides the best suction to fully remove dust and dirt.
