Expert Design for Maximum Efficiency and Coverage

To ensure the best system performance, our team of experts will carefully consider:

  • Ducting routes - planned to be efficient, discreet and practical
  • Wall inlet placement - strategically located for maximum coverage with minimum inlets

What are the stages of a Central Vacuum installation?

The key to a successful central vacuum installation is careful planning during the construction phase. It’s essential to consider each stage of the installation process in advance to ensure everything is in place when needed. This is particularly important for the Retractable Hose System, which must be installed while the building is still under construction.

Before Installation

The system will be designed by BEAM professionals before the installation begins. Unit position, wall inlet location, and duct runs will be discussed and planned.

We recommend doing this early in the planning/building process, so that the central vacuum can be taken into consideration along with other services, such as underfloor heating. This is particularly important when installing a Retractable Hose System.

During First Fix

During first fix, central vacuum ducting is installed within the internal walls. This should be completed when stud walls are in place and before your plaster goes on. If no stud walls are being constructed, before plastering and before the metal grid ceilings go up.

For the Retractable Hose Central Vacuum, installation should be avoided on walls with insulated plasterboard or wood panelling.

  •  A 13 amp electrical socket, positioned at high level, is required beside the location of the power unit.

During Second Fix

Central Vacuum ducting is laid in the floors during the second fix stage, when plastering is completed. The vacuum ducting should be fitted before any water or heating pipes are installed, and before insulation/bead screed is laid.

  • If the power unit is being located in a detached garage, a 4" trench duct to carry our vacuum pipe must be prepared at this stage.

Installing the Unit

Once the second fix is complete, the power unit can be hung and connected, the Vacpan can be fitted, and the inlet covers can be mounted.

  • This should be done before any floor tiles are laid.

Testing the System Before Use

It is important that your Beam Central Vacuum System is completed and air tested before floor tiling and decorating to ensure that no wires or ducting have been accidentally damaged under the floor during house completion.

Once tested, your Beam Central Vacuum System is ready to use!
